Hello 2026!
I promised myself I was going to write more last year and I didn’t do it. I didn’t even do my recap of the year, nor publish this post yesterday like I should have. Oh well, c’est la vie! So what was I so busy doing? Knitting, and running around like a maniac taking my daughter to all her many activities. I have autoimmune, regular life exhausts me.
As for all the time I spent knitting, it wasn’t even for myself or my kids. I made 12 Emotional Support Chicken’s for birthday gifts, dozens of baby booties for babies in the hospital and lap afghans and hats for seniors and vets in wheelchairs.
Yesterday was the first day in a very long time that I did not sit down to knit. I sat at my desk, for nearly two days in a row getting my 2026 date book ready. Yes, it takes 2 days, like I said, many activities. I like to live thank you very much.
I also put away all the Yule decor and sat down to count our yearly dimes that Shadow sends us from beyond the grave. This year was $3.10.
Other recaps from 2025 include 45 books read and 76 knitting projects complete. In fact, I bound off the final project on the 31st, a pair of fingerless mitts for my brother in law’s birthday.
New Year stuff included redecorating the front door to our apartment and taking the time to do my Wheel of 2026 Tarot Spread, as one does:
These cards all made very good sense within the context of the spread, I really didn’t second guess any of them. The spread is very wand heavy which means more action, movement, and business, you know, more running around town like a maniac as usual. It seems that once September hits I’ll be able to stop and smell the roses so to speak, which is weird cause that’s usually my busiest month. In any case, I’ll survive.
In planning the year ahead, my two goals this year are to use the yarn I have for more donations, and to finally read the books that have been sitting on my shelf unread for years. Like this one, my current read:
I don’t even remember where I heard about this book but back in 2020, it was at the thrift store, brand new, and cheap, so naturally I got it. After all, the entire spiritual community seemed to be discussing this book. It’s ok, it’s not earth shattering, the stories are interesting, if they’re true, but unfortunately it’s a book about a woman who was raised Catholic who in her 40’s “finds” herself. Catholism is filled with life long guilt, terrible morals and let us not forget about priests that can’t keep their wieners to themselves because they’re forced into celibacy. Anyway… I will be re-donating this one when I’m done. The authors words are not a revelation to me.
Thus rings in my new year. I’m trying to relax and also mentally organize what I need to work on for the year ahead. I must make a dent in my yarn leftover pile and get these unloved books off my shelf. Then I can make room for MORE yarn! Cue maniacal laughter, or a witches cackle if you prefer.
Ciao fellow witches, and happy New Year!
